Everybody knows that Fort De Soto Park is a wonderful place to go. Visitors find miles of world-class beaches, beautiful campsites, nature trails, paved trails, history tours to see the old fort, and the list goes on and on....

Sure, everybody knows that, and they also know that the park has a staff of fine, helpful people who look after things, and reserve picnic shelters for your family reunion, and keep everything shipshape, and...

Very few people could have any idea of how many things are happening "under the radar" at the park. The daily life of the park staff is filled with Eagle Scout projects, medical emergencies, controlled burns... Things the public never sees. Some of the projects are huge million-dollar ones, and some are long-term, taking years to complete. This section of the website will show just a few samples of the many things that are part of "managing a park". Things (as shown in the picture on this page) that are happening while you're at home, asleep. Things you never thought about!
