This was a time in history when the technology of firearms was moving rapidly.
There were factors that were so important that they influenced the outcome of the
battle. Some weapons, when fired, gave off a huge puff of smoke, thereby giving
away the position of a previously hidden sniper. Some weapons excelled at repeating
action, and other weapons jammed. And of course, the accuracy of the rifle was paramount.
